Gender Equality
There was an article recently on AWARE clamouring for mandatory paternity leave for dads so as to reverse the hopelessly low fertility rate in Singapore. Seriously, do they really think that will work? I, for one, will not be basing my decision whether to have kids on a couple of days of extra leave. The article also noted that having mandatory paternity leave will change the stereotyping of dads as provider and mums as caregiver. Come on, what is wrong with such a division of labor? Men and Women are never meant to be equal. Just look at the mirror and you will see the difference. All this bullshit about gender equality is partly what is causing strains in the modern family.
